Kaio is a Greek word meaning to set on fire. KAIO STUDENT MINISTRIES exists to challenge you and your peers to be "set on fire" and to be consumed in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We hope that through this relationship and passion you will grow closer to Jesus and share His message of hope with others (Matthew 28:19-20). Our goal is to REACH students where they are, TEACH youth to be followers of Jesus Christ, and then SEND these youth to impact our world for eternity.
Wednesday Nights: KAIO 9.12
Students grades 9 through 12 meet with Pastor Brandon Strickler on Wednesdays, at 7 PM in the Gym. Our desire is to see this generation of students to be set on fire with the love and power of Jesus. Our goal is to see every one of our students become “fully devoted followers of Jesus for the rest of their lives”. Our staff and interns work very hard to provide and facilitate “environments” where students can have a life changing encounter with Jesus through worship and the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. We are far from perfect but we strongly believe that students who choose to be a part of KAIO will experience God, and grow stronger in their faith in Jesus. We look forward to serving you in the future!
Wednesday Nights: KAIO 6.8
Students grades 6 through 8 meet on Wednesdays, at 7 PM in Colonial Chapel. This is a great place for middle school students to meet new friends, experience live worship, and listen to a relevant message with 6.8 Director Aaron Larva. At KAIO 6.8, our goal is to see every one of our students become “fully devoted followers of Jesus for the rest of their lives”. We strive to create a culture in our youth ministry where students feel loved and accepted no matter what background they come from. We strongly believe that students who choose to be a part of KAIO will experience God, and grow stronger in their faith in Jesus.
Sunday Mornings: DIG
We meet on Sunday mornings for DIG, our Sunday school program. We start at 9:30 AM in the FMCS Cafeteria with a free breakfast, a time to hang out with friends, and then we break into our Sunday school classes separated by grade and gender. Doing so creates a small group environment where students can dig into God's word together.
Annual Amp'd Retreat
The AMP'D retreat usually happens every February at camp grounds that feature water sports, ropes course, and team sports. The camp includes amazing music with local worship bands (such as FSOD's Interface) and special guest speakers. You do not want to miss out! Visit Kaio.org for event details.
Summer Student Internship (SI)
SI is a summer internship for middle school and high school students who want to go deeper in their faith, serve their community, and become leaders of influence. Every summer, students are part of leadership sessions with some of the top leaders in our community. Students will choose a ministry track to be a part of throughout the summer, such as the public speaking track, kids’ ministry track, or evangelism track, etc. This is an opportunity for hands-on ministry experience and a chance to become stronger in their walk with Jesus. Students will learn how to have a personal devotional time and to seek God and hear His voice every morning, they will go into local schools and neighborhoods and serve our community while sharing the gospel through, “Engage” Community Projects, and they will build relationships and enjoy various fun activities each day. For more information, please call the Church Office and ask for KAIO Student Ministries.
Relay For Missions
KAIO's annual 10-hour marathon raises funds for Speed the Light. Each relay for missions team has a least one member continuously moving on the track at all times, and every hour we raise funds through the sponsorship of friends, family and businesses. For more information, please call the Church Office and ask for KAIO Student Ministries.
Speed The Light
The concept is simple: we give so others can speed the light of the gospel to a world in darkness. Speed the Light (STL) is the student-initiated, volunteer, charitable program that provides much-needed equipment to missionaries across the nation and in over 180 countries around the world. Since its beginning, STL has raised far over $253 million for missionary equipment. Speed the Light is one of the most effective youth missions ministries in the church world. Assemblies of God students have accepted this great responsibility to voluntarily sacrifice and raise funds. We give so our missionaries can travel faster, preach clearer, and be heard louder, in order that Heaven might be a bigger place…filled with people from every nationality, color, and tribe who have accepted Him as their Savior.
One Night is a fun, energetic event for all middle school and high school students in our community. Each year we feature special guest speakers and special worship bands. Attendees have the chance to win great prizes during the pre-show which always starts at 6pm and includes free food, fun activities, and live music. Don’t miss this premiere, annual youth event in southwest Florida at First Assembly of God in Fort Myers.
KAIO Core Values
1. We passionately pursue Jesus
To intimately know Jesus is one of our greatest privileges and joys. We will be known as people who unashamedly worship, pray, and seek after the Lord with great passion and expectation. The pursuit never ends! (Phil. 3: 7-8, 10, Rev. 3:15-16, Jeremiah 29:13)
2. We give up ourselves, in order to reach others
Our primary purpose will always be to bring lost people to Jesus. Never will we become so inwardly focused that we lose our reason for existence. We must be willing to put ourselves aside and our personal preferences in order to reach as many as possible. (Mt. 28:19-20, I Cor. 9:19, 22, 2 Peter 3:9)
3. We strive to build authentic relationships
Authentic, godly relationships promote spiritual growth, accountability, and unity of purpose. We will teach, model, and encourage these relationships to develop within our lives and ministry. (I Thess. 5:11, Heb. 10:24-25, Prov. 27:17, James 5:16)
4. We act with great faith
There is so much temptation to play it safe. To do what has always been done because it's comfortable and familiar. We will be unafraid to take big risks in our lives and ministry for the glory of God. We will look for new ways to step out in faith, to believe for the impossible in order to make a greater impact. (Heb. 11:6, 8-9, Mt. 19:26, Phil. 4:13)
5. We always offer our best
God always deserves the best we have to offer in all we do. We will embody a spirit of excellence in everything we do, both in our lives and ministry. Whether it is a big task or a small task we will always give our very best. (Col. 3:23)
6. We have a high expectation for this generation
Throughout history God has used young people to do extraordinary things. We will unapologetically hold this generation of young people to a high standard of godly living and push them out of their comfort so they may realize their full potential in Christ. (I Tim. 4:12, 2 Tim. 1:6-7)
7. We serve others willingly
Jesus said, "The greatest among you is a servant of all". We will embody the heart of a servant. We will always look for opportunities to serve others, our community, and our church. Let us be people who will gladly give of our time and energy to serve others. (Gal. 5:13, Mark 10:44-45, Mt. 23:11)
8. We have FUN while doing God's work
Being a follower of Jesus is not boring! We believe that this is the most exciting endeavor to ever be apart of. We will create a culture where people can have a blast while fulfilling their purpose. The work of God is not always easy but there should always be a large dose of joy and laughter in it. (Prov. 17:22, Phil. 4:4, Gen. 21:6)
